🎣“How a Fisherman Became a Beginner Freediver (My Honest Experience)”

 From catching fish… to becoming the fish? 😆🐟

As someone who loves fishing in Korea — especially in Busan 🌊 — I’ve spent countless

 hours staring at the ocean. Waiting… waiting… and sometimes waiting for absolutely nothing to bite. 🎣💔

So, at some point, I thought:

“If the fish won’t come to me… maybe I should go to them.” 😆🤿
And that’s exactly how my freediving journey began.

I’m now officially a PADI Level 2 Freediver, and

 currently training for PADI Level 3 (PADI Master Freediver is the final goal!) 💪🐬

Someday, I’ll finally dive into the real ocean and maybe…

finally meet the fish that ignored my bait. 😆🐟

🏊‍♂️ Expectations vs Reality

Expectation	Reality
I’ll swim gracefully like a fish 🐠	I look like a confused seal trying to do yoga underwater
Holding breath will be easy 💨	Static apnea = instant panic 😱
Ocean + me = best friends 🌊	Water up my nose said: “No friendship.” 💦
Equalizing? Piece of cake 🎧	My ears: error… ERROR… RESTART SYSTEM ❌

💨 Static Apnea = My Worst Enemy

The hardest part for me wasn’t diving deep…

It was simply doing nothing and holding my breath.

As soon as someone says “Longer!”

my brain immediately replies:

“Nope. We’re dying.” 😵‍💫

 

I learned that:

👉 The more you “try hard,”

the shorter you can hold your breath.

The secret?

Relax. Drop all tension. Think about nothing. Become algae. 🪴😌

👂 Equalizing: The Boss Battle

If you don’t equalize properly, your ears remind you instantly.

Equalizing isn’t optional.

It’s like the “tutorial mission you MUST pass” before entering the ocean. 🎮👂

🥶 Winter Training Tip: Buy a Wetsuit

Even in a pool, winter water is cold.

I highly recommend buying a wetsuit before you regret your life choices.

I ordered one and now I’m waiting like a kid waiting for Santa. 🎁🧊
